Pettigrew's Disguise Pettigrew has lived as a rat for twelve years, hiding his true nature. His transformation reflects his cowardice. He is literally a rat. The Werewolf The Secret Lupin is a werewolf, a condition that makes him feared and shunned. He has hidden it his whole life. He is a gentle man cursed with a monstrous form. The Transformation During the full moon, Lupin becomes a dangerous wolf. He loses control and attacks. His dual nature is a metaphor for the struggle between good and evil within. The Acceptance Despite being a werewolf, Lupin is a good teacher and friend. The theme is that identity is not defined by physical form, but by choices and character.
